Socio-Economic and Conflict Impact Analysis - Lebanon

June 18, 2025

Background

Lebanon remains in a state of prolonged crisis. Five years into a devastating meltdown, the country continues to suffer from deep political, economic, and social instability. With no president and only a caretaker government in place for nearly two years, essential reforms remain stalled. While inflation and the exchange rate have seen some stabilization, the lack of decisive governance continues to strain the economy and heavily affect public services. Vulnerable populations, especially children, are the most impacted, facing declining access to health, water, and education.

The situation has been further worsened by renewed conflict along Lebanon’s southern borders. This has added a new layer of hardship, especially for children and adolescents already facing structural inequalities and pre-existing vulnerabilities.

In such a volatile context, UNICEF Lebanon requires regular, high-quality analysis of emerging socio-economic and political developments, and their impact on households and children. These insights will be essential to inform programming and strategic planning.

Triangle’s Assignment
UNICEF engaged Triangle to deliver regular contextual updates to inform its programming in Lebanon. The assignment includes:

  • Delivering two analytical sessions (end of Q4 2024 and Q2 2025) covering Lebanon’s socio-economic and political context, with a focus on children and households;
  • Presenting findings through PowerPoint presentations;
  • Producing two policy notes (2,000–3,000 words each) summarizing key developments and recommendations;
  • Creating content for infographics and/or short videos to communicate major findings, in coordination with UNICEF’s Social Policy and Communication teams;
  • Collaborating closely with UNICEF throughout, with regular coordination and reporting to the Social Policy team.
